Hotel pickup in Luxor and the ferry to the West Bank. Bikes or e-bikes are fitted, helmets handed out, and the first stretch is deliberately easy.
The West Bank of Luxor is flat and the lanes between the villages are quiet. On a bicycle you travel at the pace of the place: along sugar cane and clover fields, past irrigation ditches, with the Theban hills always in view. Distances are short, and apart from the road up into the Valley of the Kings there is hardly any climbing.
On the way you visit the Valley of the Kings, with the three tombs the standard ticket allows, and the terraced temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, built into the cliff in three levels for a woman who ruled as pharaoh. On the way there you pass the Colossi of Memnon.
Bicycle or e-bike, both are possible. A guide from our team who lives or works on the West Bank rides with you and explains what is growing in the fields, how the water reaches them and what you see in the temples and tombs. The ride ends with lunch at a local restaurant on the West Bank.
Slower, or differently: always possible. Tell us how you like to travel and we will rebuild the day around it.
