Desert Quad Safari & Bedouin Village — Hurghada

6 Hours

Overview

Twenty minutes inland from the Red Sea hotels the coast disappears and the Eastern Desert begins — hard gravel plain, dry riverbeds and low mountains the colour of rust. You cross it on a quad bike, in convoy, with a guide leading and another closing the line.

Halfway, the track reaches a Bedouin settlement. You are shown how bread is baked in the sand under a fire, how the herbal tea is made, and you can ride a camel if you want to. It is a stop that has been doing this for years, so expect it to be organised rather than accidental.

The afternoon run back is timed for sunset, when the mountains turn red and the dust hangs in the low light.

Slower, or differently — always possible. Tell us how you like to travel and we will rebuild the day around it.

Not sure what to hand over at the end? Our guide to tipping in Egypt gives real numbers.
